This replaced a clip based holder that was difficult to use as fingers kept fouling the side buttons on the phone when putting it in. This was a much more usable. You do need a plastic case on your phone as the metal plates are attached to the case, not the phone. The cleaning cloth is bit small, but a bit of meths on a rag does a good job of preparing the dash for the 3M adhesive pad (check in a part you can't see first!).

This sticks very well as long as you clean the dashboard are with isopropyl or methylated spirit in addition to using the provided wipe.
The good thing for me was that I had a mobile phone case that conveniently has a metal block on the back so I did not need the provided metal plates.
I have used this on local (very bumpy) journeys and long distance and I can confirm that the phone has never fallen off or moved because the magnets are quite powerful.

when i ordered from an australian website, i naively assumed the product would come from aus and therefore arrive promptly - found out too late it comes from uk and takes weeks to arrive. emailed company to chase up and get eta on delivery - never got a response

This phone holder is a great purchase, but not for my car, I bought to try, knowing it may not work in my car as I have a mini, which doesn't have many spaces for the holder to adhere to, and the surface is too textured, despite this, if you have a smooth dashboard then it's ideal, I had to buy a cd slot holder in the end but holding onto the magnet one just incase I change my car, as its a very smart looking holder.
